Prohibition of Sexual Harassment | Totokoan te mwakuri n tangako

  • In Part XII of the EIRC2015, A person shall not sexually harass an employee or a prospective employee.
  • A person sexually harasses an employee or a prospective employee if:
  •       a) The person makes an unwelcome sexual advance, or an unwelcome request for sexual favours, to the employee or prospective employee; or

          b) the person engages in other unwelcome conduct of a sexual nature.


  • A person who commits sexual harassment commits an offence and shall be liable on conviction for a fine of $1,000.

  • In Part XIV of the EIRC2015, an employer shall not exact work from an employee under the menace of any penalty; relating to loss of employment, threats of violence, physical & property abuse.   • In Section 77 of the EIRC2015, it states that no person shall act as a recruitment agent or private employment agent, by enlisting or recruiting any person to perform work for a third party in the Republic of Kiribati or overseas, unless the person is licensed.
