This is the newly established unit to deals specifically with matters related to health and safety at work following the adoption of the Occupational Health and Safety Act, 2016. This Act provides the mandate for the OSH Inspectors to perform OSH Inspection. Occupational Health and Safety (OHS), also commonly referred to as Occupational Safety and Health (OHS), is a multidisciplinary field concerned with the safety, health and welfare of people at work.

Our core objectives includes:

  • Carry out OSH inspection to all workplaces to ensure compliance with the OSH law.
  • Promote OSH awareness and education to the public and workplaces on rights and obligations relating to the OSH law.
  • Provide advice and guidance where required to workplaces on formulating OHS Policy and related matters.
  • Assist workplaces in establishment of OHS committee or OSH representatives to fulfil obligations uder the OHS Act.
  • Establish connection with relevant authorities including ILO technical expertise to identify or advise on specific unknown substance or hazard such as chemicals etc.
  • Work collaboratively with social partners through the Tripartite Decent Work Advisory Board to promote and advance the OSH agenda.
  • Know your duties and rights with relation to health and safety at a workplace.
